About this Podcast...

Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect in newborn babies, as 8 out of 1,000 babies born each year have the disease. Some forms will cause few problems, but criticial cases can bring about cardiogenic shock or even death if a child is left undiagnosed. The procedure to test a baby for congenital heart disease is non-invasive and simple and most hospitals currently have the means to carry it out, but many are not. Two hospitals in Abu Dhabi are currently testing babies that are over 24 hours old for the heart defect -  Dr. Jennifer Moore, Section Head, Family and School Health, Health Authority Abu Dhabi UAE and Dr. Shereena Al Mazrouie, Senior Officer, Family and School Health, Health Authority Abu Dhabi, UAE explain to Pharma IQ.
