In this presentation Christoph Krähenbühl, IS Programme Manager, Pack Coding and Product Security, AstraZeneca discusses
- Product security, patient safety, anti-counterfeiting and supply chain control and visibility present mounting challenges to the industry, to regulators, healthcare providers and other stakeholders
- Coding, serialisation and traceability/track & trace are proposed as solutions by governments and technology providers but un-coordinated and conflicting coding requirements, competing technologies, scope and timescale challenges, standards that are not yet fully emerged and conflicts between data integrity, security, packaging performance all add to the challenge for the industry
- AZ has addressed this challenge by formulating a strategic vision and an implementation roadmap, by implementing a standardised, scalable and adaptable solution rather than to focus on one specific requirement, by working together with other stakeholders to share best practice and influence at all levels and by accepting the challenge as an opportunity to move from a re-active to a pro-active approach
