The author has perfectly pin pointed the top most challenges in Pharmacovigilance in Asia. Hopefully pharmaceutical companies should become more responsible for ensuring patient safety. Health care professionals are required to be more vigilant and pro-active in reporting adverse event experiences of the patients to the health authorities as well as to Pharma companies. Patient education programs can also be a way out for proper implementation of Pharmacovigilance activities across Asia.

This is a very relavent topic in light of out own Inspector Generals recent report on the Vaccine for Children Program : Vulnerabilities in Vaccine Management. The study documents areas of improvement in the U.S. Public Vaccine Program ( VFC) , and we continue to struggle with issues that new markets have an opportunity to address in the early framework developemnt. The article presented reinforced those common issues that relate to Temperature managemnt ( prevention of Cold chain breeches), tracking and inventory, reducing errors, and overhead management. Technology applied to a number of these problems remains to be addressed in the U.S. I see developing markets in a unique opportunity to define standards and the technology to support them.
We have designed the first Vaccine Management software that was developed for both the U.S. and a valuable asset to emerging markets.
