Mirijana
Jovic

Mirijana Jovic was the driving force behind the founding and development of the first shared services unit for Tabcorp in 2007.  At the time Tabcorp, with its diverse businesses ranging from casinos to wagering, was labouring under multiple effort-intensive, confusing and complicated processes run out of separate units scattered throughout the business, with a predictable effect on the company’s ability to organise, reconcile and report information.

Mirijana’s previous role as General Manger of Finance with the project team setting up Business Services put her in an ideal position to make immediate impact.  From 2008, as General Manager, Tabcorp Business Services, Mirijana brought vision and energy to the task of transitioning the company’s wilderness of processes into one way of working.  With her leadership team, she focused on adding value, creating savings and driving a shared services agenda to deliver simple, consistent end to end financial and people processes across Tabcorp.

Her shared services mantra was to deliver:  “one way of working; governance and internal controls; simplified processes”.

Her emphasis on good process discipline, tracking and regular reporting ensured senior stakeholders around Tabcorp stayed with her team on the journey, and helped facilitate rapid change as they streamlined financial and HR activities across Australia into a single transaction house located in Melbourne.  This monumental change involved transforming the previous scattered functions (largely located in Queensland, NSW and Victoria) to the current centralised corporate shared function.

The activities of the shared Business Services transaction house include:

• Finance (General Accounting & Reporting, Treasury, Accounts Receivable & Fixed Assets and Projects )
• People Services (Payroll, HR Administration and Recruitment) and
• ERP development and application support

Today Tabcorp Business Services is recognised as a strong Shared Service unit and has earned the respect Tabcorp business units.
