Frank Floether

Frank U. Floether has an educational background in chemistry and pharmacy. He received his PhD in chemistry (Dr.rer.nat) in 1977 and in pharmacy (Dr. sc.nat.) in 1989, both from the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. He has served his entire career, i.e. over almost 30 years in senior executive functions in pharmaceutical R&D, both in generics (1979-1993) and in the multinational enterprise Johnson & Johnson(1993-2008). His last positions before retirement were VP Global Analytical Development (2001-2005) and VP Business Development Asia-Pacific (2005-2008) within the pharmaceutical franchise of Johnson & Johnson.

Frank U. Floether gained broad international experience in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, USA and India. He has significantly contributed to the expansion of pharmaceutical R&D capacities for Johnson & Johnson in Asia. After retiring he is still active as a consultant, advising on offshoring of pharmaceutical R&D to Asia and assisting in setting up partnerships between Western and Asian pharmaceutical companies.

Frank is a member of various scientific advisory boards of European and Asian companies and a lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland.  He is also the inventor/co-inventor or author/co-author of more than 60 patents and papers; most recently his co-authored book "Strategic Alliances in Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals" was published in USA.
