Dr. Alok Porwal
Alok has over 20 years of research and professional experience in applications of GIS technology to real-world exploration targeting in Australia, Europe and India, and is internationally recognized as a key exponent of spatial-mathematical-model-based mineral prospectivity analysis. Alok has successfully completed several industry sponsored projects on prospectivity modeling of a variety of mineral deposits. His recent industry-sponsored work includes a continent-wide prospectivity mapping of Australia for all styles of uranium deposits (Regalpoint Uranium); orogenic gold prospectivity mapping of the Plutonic-Marymia Greenstone Belt (Barrrick Gold) and the Granite-Tanami Orogen (ABM Resources); and hydrothermal nickel prospectivity mapping of Tasmania and magmatic nickel-sulfide prospectivity mapping of the Yilgarn (Transcontinental Group). He is a guest editor of a special issue of the international journal “Ore Geology Reviews” on mineral prospectivity analysis. He holds an MSc in Geology from Rajasthan University, India, and a PhD in GIS-based mineral prospectivity modeling from Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
