John Heins

D. Heins is senior vice president and chief human resources officer of Spherion Corporation. He is responsible for the delivery of industry-leading programs and strategic human resources initiatives for Spherion. Appointed in October 2006, Heins focuses on organizational and leadership development, talent management and training, workforce planning and employee relations. He is an accomplished leader with 25 years of human resources and management experience and a proven track record of success.

With a goal to enhance customer focus by streamlining the company’s infrastructure, Heins took on responsibility in 2007 for all administrative functions. In addition to human resources support, the law, real estate, business meeting services, risk management and corporate communications functions also report to Heins.

Heins is a key spokesperson for Spherion’s Emerging Workforce® Study. Conducted by Harris Interactive® on behalf of Spherion and reflecting more than a decade of research, the study provides a comprehensive look at changes in the American workforce in the context of ongoing social and economic events.

Prior to joining Spherion, Heins spent 11 years with JM Family Enterprises, most recently as vice president of human resources strategy. While there, he also served as vice president of human resources and administrative services and director of corporate planning and human resources services. During his tenure, he led the company’s efforts to gain entry to Fortune Magazine’s list of “Top 100 Best Companies to Work For” and helped it maintain that position over the next eight years that he was with the firm.

Prior to joining JM Family Enterprises, Heins worked with Florida Power and Light for 14 years in a variety of roles, including manager of human resources planning and commercial operations.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and operations research management from the University of Florida.

Heins is a member of the board of directors of Junior Achievement of South Florida.
