When Jess’s son was diagnosed with a rare type of cerebral palsy at 20 months, she was told there was nothing she could do. Like so many patients and carers, she turned to Dr. Google- reading papers, scanning websites, joining groups, and even started studying neuroscience. For two years she searched relentlessly, only to discover how fragmented and overwhelming cutting edge health information can be.
That search led her to AI. Jess got funding for a machine learning project that classified and ranked treatments by categorizing 32 million scientific papers. This work evolved into building an early LLM-powered platform, and now into developing AI agents that continuously monitor, aggregate, and personalize medical knowledge.
In this session, Jess will share how each stage of this journey has shaped her search for treatments, her navigation of medical systems, and ultimately impacted her son’s quality of life.
