Vendor-supported LIMS solutions are ubiquitous in the pharmaceutical industry, but for all their benefits they also come with their own set of challenges. While most provide interfaces or proprietary scripting languages to develop additional functionality, these capabilities alone are often not enough to meet the ever growing demands of the business. Vendor lock in is a serious concern, because switching costs and business demands often make moving to another solution impractical, if not utterly impossible.
This session will cover practical methods of preventing your LIMS system from becoming a liability using real world examples. Topics will include methods of mitigating performance issues, improving user interfaces, working with and vetting vendor resources, etc.
