Laurent Baumes

Global Chemical Informatics Lead ExxonMobil

L. Baumes obtained his M.Sc. in Modelling and Statistics from the Univ. Lyon 2 France in 2001. Then, he prepared a Ph.D. in Math. & Comp. Sci. applied to Materials Science. He joined the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse in Lyon with Prof. Mirodatos and the Max Planck Institute at Mulheim, Germany with Prof. Schüth. In 2004, he obtained the Eurodoc Ph.D. award for the quality of his Ph.D. In 2005, he started a post-doc. with Prof. Corma at the Instituto de Tecnología Química, Spain. He edited 1 book, published 6 book chapters and ~40 articles in high-impact journals (among them Science, Angew. Chemie, PCCP, J. Catalysis, A. Catal., Chem. A Eur. J., Chem. of Materials, Cat. Today), and gave ~40 presentations at international conf. He also gave lectures in prestigious univ. (INSA, CNAM …). In March 2012, he joined ExxonMobil Research and Engineering (EMRE, Clinton NJ) where he develops advanced modelling techniques. In 2016, he became the head of Global Informatics for ExxonMobil Chemicals Technology (Baytown, TX).
