Miu-Ling Lau

Director, Informatics Merck

Miu-Ling Lau serves as the Director of Informatics at Merck (known as MSD outside of the US and Canada) and oversees the ACDS-Informatics group within the Merck Manufacturing Division (MMD). In her role, she leads a team of highly skilled scientists who support data reporting in pre and post-approval regulatory filings, develop tools for data visualization, trending, and analysis, and are responsible in the business support for Merck's research laboratory information system (LIMS). Throughout her career, Miu-Ling has successfully led various large-scale initiatives across different functions. Notably, she played a crucial role in the development and deployment of the new Research LIMS, as well as the creation of visualization and trending tools for LIMS and Chromatographic systems at Merck. In addition to her role at Merck, Miu-Ling is actively involved in industry organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors in the Allotrope Foundation, an international consortium that focuses on developing standard data formats and tools to enhance data exchange in the pharmaceutical industry. Furthermore, Miu-Ling actively participates in the IQ Analytical Next Gen Data Capture Working Group, where she contributes to driving the standardization of data capture for third-party partners. Prior to joining Merck, Miu-Ling worked at BOC Gases, where she supported drug characterization and developed novel adsorbents. She holds a Master of Science degree with a minor in Business Administration.
