The Agilent OpenLAB ELN is used by global R&D labs that need to protect their Intellectual Property.

Electronic records are increasingly being used to support patent information and filing. Therefore, they need to be generated and managed with care. Technologies such as digital signatures and secure timestamping provide legally admissible digital evidence , but internal policies also need to be defined and followed (such as peer witness review workflows).

Understanding the new America Invents Act is key for both US-based companies and others who want to benefit from the huge US Market. Although the move to a “first-to-file” system simplifies the patent process, the need for admissible, credible and authenticated business records associated with your company’s intellectual property has not diminished. In fact, significant portions of the America Invents Act emphasize the importance of improved electronic records management best practices, including prior user defenses (Sec. 5, amending 35 U.S.C. § 273), derivation proceedings, and post-grant reviews.

This webinar will cover:

  • What’s changing with the new America Invents Act
  • How the USPTO handles electronic evidence
  • What does a “first-inventor-to-file” mean?
  • Why digital timestamping secures your applications and patents
  • Learn how OpenLAB ELN helps you comply with these new regulations
