Dr. Gil Padula

Chief Medical Officer University Hospitals St. John Medical Center

Gilbert "Gil" D. A. Padula, MD ('97, College of Human Medicine) is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at University Hospitals St. John Medical Center. In this role, Dr. Padula will work closely with the UH staff to improve patient satisfaction and safety. He currently serves as a professor for the UH Department of Radiation Oncology; Padula is also a past president of the MSU College of Human Medicine Alumni Board. Dr. Padula brings 20-plus years of progressive clinical and administrative leadership experience to the role. Since May 2020, Dr. Padula has served as associate chair of radiation oncology at University Hospitals. Prior to joining UH, Padula served as system medical director and the Vincent and Nancy Digirolamo Endowed Chair in Oncology at Summa Health's Cancer Institute. While there, he successfully implemented multidisciplinary clinics—resulting in a 40 percent increase in patient volume at breast clinics throughout the health system. Dr. Padula is known for fostering a strong culture of trust among medical staff, physicians, and the patients he serves.
