E-nose Sniffs Out Rare Lung Disease

A new technology referred to as an artificial nose has the ability to detect a rare progressive lung disease from a patient’s breath. The enose, produced by Université Paris-Saclay in partnership with the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, is tuned to detect Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)- a form of high blood pressure. The disease is known to change the make-up of an individual’s breath.Those suffering from PAH tend to be given a five year life expectancy from diagnosis.
