A few pockets of Europe see levels of activity in cell and gene therapy manufacturing, including the likes of Germany, France, Austria, Netherlands etc. However, some industry analysts have noted a lack of manufacturing capacity and a level of disharmony across the continent.
The UK has recently been praised for its forward thinking attitude, easing some of the frustrations felt by Europe’s ‘conservative’ approach towards cell-research. (2) Also, the EEF has noted that the UK’s pharma manufacturing output increased last year by 1 per cent with more growth being forecasted for 2016. (6)
