About this Podcast...
Frank Binder, Director of International Logistics and Supply Chain at Celgene, joins Helen Winsor at Pharma IQ, to discuss how pharmaceutical distribution can add more value to business. Firstly, he discusses the importance of the ‘last mile’ to the overall supply chain. He then reflects on the change across the industry at the moment when it comes to distribution models and channel strategy, pinpointing which models he sees working, whether there are any limitations in these, and whether more value could be added to the distribution strategy. Celgene was actually one of the first pharma manufacturers to adopt a completely centralised distribution strategy, and in this exclusive interview, Binder explains what led to this decision and what lessons the company has learned over the years. He discusses the expansion of the distribution network to Europe and Asia, the biggest challenges faced and how these were overcome. Looking ahead, Binder summarises the main priorities for the distribution strategy this year, the biggest potential areas of risk and expected changes for the pharma industry supply chain over the next 12-16 months.
