Jim Thomson, Chair of the European Alliance for Access to Safer Medicines (EAASM), discusses the implications of the EU Pharma package with Helen Winsor from Pharma IQ. Thomson explains how pharmaceutical packaging and anti-counterfeiting measures have changed over the past five years.

He then talks about the current challenges for the industry associated with fighting counterfeiting and improving patient safety, and the activities EAASM has been involved with to help overcome these challenges and advance anti-counterfeiting approaches. Looking ahead, Thomson offers his views on how he thinks the introduction of EU legislation to improve supply chain security will impact key stakeholders in the industry, and what the future might hold for anti-counterfeiting strategies.
