Labs In Transition: Moving beyond the Lab IT function
Among the issues that have been voiced at PITTCON 2013, ELA 2013 (June in Hamburg) and the IQPC Knowledge Management meeting in Boston (also last month) were the difficulties of lab and IT professionals working together to meet business goals. The solution to this matter is the development of a discipline of Laboratory Automation Engineering – engineers educated to bridge the gap between classical IT and laboratory work.
