Simon Mortimore, Head of Information Services, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, joins Helen Winsor from Pharma IQ, to discuss developments and challenges in e-health and informatics.
First, he explains exactly what management information strategy is and why it’s necessary. He reflects on the slight resistance from hospital personnel to new technology usage, but on the general willingness by patients to take this on board. He talks about the importance of using technology to improve healthcare decisions, sharing some examples of this. Mortimore also discusses progress in working towards better data integration patient pathways and how implementing new technologies or IT strategies can help to reduce costs.
