High Risk: How Corrupt is Life Sciences?

According to Transparency International's Bribe Payers Index, among 19 industry sectors globally, life sciences is perceived to be the 6th most corrupt sector, in terms of the propensity of companies to pay bribes.

In this exclusive interview Chandrashekhar Krishnan, Executive Director of Transparency International (UK), speaks to Andrea Charles from Pharma IQ, about how the UK Bribery Act and changes in the regulatory landscape will affect life ciences and business in general.

In light of the delay of the UK Bribery Act's commencement until April 2011, TI have recently published their own guidance, to help companies put in place robust anti-bribery systems: www.adequateprocedures.org.uk. Krishnan also informs us what to keep in mind when developing and monitoring a compliance policy, which is an essential part of anti-corruption.
